What it is, and why we rate it

What it really isVidMage: an AI face swap tool (web and Mac) that now also offers AI video, image and audio generation.
Our takeVidMage swaps faces in photos, videos and GIFs, handles up to 4 faces per image, and on Mac runs locally with real-time and live webcam face swap.
The free daily quota is enough to try it. Paid plans add 400 credits a month and remove the Mac app's limits. VidMage's rules require that you own or have permission to use every image and video, and ban sexual or non-consensual content.
Why we rate itVidMage punches above its price point with a genuinely usable free tier, competitive annual pricing, and a broader feature set than single-trick face-swap apps.
The Mac live swap integration for real-time video calls is a genuine differentiator.
The catchLive face swap is Mac-only; credit pools are modest on the monthly plan (400 credits); heavy video users will burn through quotas quickly.

Best / not good for

Best for
  • Social media creators making meme or entertainment content
  • Casual editors wanting no-install face swap for photos and short clips
  • Mac users needing real-time face swap in Zoom or FaceTime
Not good for
  • Windows users who need live webcam face swap
  • Professional video productions requiring fine-grained compositing control
  • Marketers building script-to-video ad pipelines (different product category)
Trade-offs

Friction report

Trade-offs to know before signing up.

  1. Time to value
Fast — web-based photo/video swap works immediately on the free tier with no account required for basic use.
  2. Scale breakpoint
Credit limits bite quickly for video-heavy workflows; the monthly 400-credit plan is thin for anyone processing multiple long clips.
  3. Walled garden
Moderate: credits only work on VidMage and stay usable only while you subscribe; live swap needs the Mac app.
Still a fit?
If none of these block you, start on the free plan.

Use face swap responsibly

  • Only use media you have rights to: VidMage's rules say users must only upload images and videos they own or have explicit permission to use.
  • Banned content: VidMage prohibits sexual, explicit, misleading or non-consensual content and says it will close accounts that break this rule. Abuse can be reported to service@vidmage.ai.
