8 - full email + SMS automation, visual workflow builder, e-commerce event segmentation, and Revenue Per Person analytics on all plans.
Value7/10
7 - all features included from day one is generous, but $39/mo entry and steep contact-count scaling make it pricier than simpler alternatives.
Ease of use7/10
7 - visual workflow builder lowers the floor, but e-commerce data configuration and advanced segmentation have a real learning curve.
Ecosystem8/10
8 - native Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce integrations plus Zapier; intentionally narrow ecosystem suited to e-commerce stack.

What it really is

Drip — e-commerce email marketing and CRM automation platform.

Our take

Drip is a purpose-built e-commerce marketing automation tool with strong segmentation, a visual workflow builder, and deep integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce. The DB mislabels the price tier as 'free' and the entry price as $19/mo — Drip has no permanent free plan; the actual entry price is $39/mo for up to 2,500 contacts, with a 14-day free trial. The DB's 'Free' pricing tier notation is incorrect.

Why we rate it

Drip earns its place by aligning metrics to revenue rather than vanity stats — Revenue Per Person is standard, not an add-on. The single-tier, all-features model means no feature gates, which is unusual at this price point.

The catch

Pricing scales steeply with list size and can become expensive fast for high-volume senders; it is also tightly focused on e-commerce, making it a poor fit for B2B SaaS or content creators.

Best for
E-commerce brands needing deep Shopify/WooCommerce/BigCommerce automation
DTC teams running complex abandoned-cart, win-back, and VIP lifecycle flows
Marketers who want unified email + SMS workflows in one platform
Not good for
B2B SaaS or service businesses with no e-commerce data layer
Bootstrapped stores on tight budgets (no free tier, $39/mo minimum)
Beginners wanting a simple drag-and-drop newsletter tool
Friction report
Time to value
Moderate: e-commerce store connection is fast, but realising full value requires configuring segmentation rules and multi-step workflows.
Scale breakpoint
Per-contact pricing climbs sharply past 25,000 contacts; at 100,000 contacts cost exceeds $1,199/mo before annual discounts.
Walled garden
Moderate: data exports are available, but automations, segments, and revenue attribution are tightly coupled to the Drip environment.
