What it really is

BDOW! (formerly Sumo) — website email-capture and conversion optimization toolkit.

Our take

Sumo was acquired in December 2023 and rebranded as BDOW! in April 2024; the product now lives at bdow.com while sumo.com resolves to an unrelated service. The DB lists $39/mo as an annual rate, but $39/mo is actually the monthly Pro price — annual Pro is $19/mo ($228/yr). A Starter plan at $25/mo also sits between the free tier and Pro, which the DB omits. Core functionality — pop-ups, A/B testing, social sharing, and e-commerce tools — remains intact under the new brand, with expansion toward a fuller lead-gen suite underway.

Why we rate it

The genuinely free tier lets small sites test pop-ups with zero commitment. A/B testing and e-commerce integrations on Pro offer real CRO muscle at a mid-market price — especially compelling at the $19/mo annual rate.

The catch

The free plan caps at 100 conversions/month and 500 emails — too tight for meaningful traffic. The brand transition to BDOW! splits documentation and community resources across old Sumo and new BDOW properties, creating confusion.

Best for
E-commerce stores wanting cart abandonment and pop-up tools in one platform
Bloggers and content creators building email lists on a budget
Small teams needing A/B testing without enterprise pricing
Not good for
High-traffic sites where per-plan pageview caps quickly become a ceiling
Teams needing built-in CRM or full marketing automation workflows
Enterprises requiring SSO, advanced compliance, or custom contracts
Friction report
Time to value
Fast — forms can be live within minutes of signup; no credit card needed for the free tier.
Scale breakpoint
Pageview caps per site and per-plan email limits become restrictive as traffic grows; multi-site costs compound quickly on the Plus tier.
Walled garden
Moderate — email lists and form data export is supported, but campaign workflows and analytics are platform-native with no open API for data portability.
