What it is, and why we rate it

What it really isShipping software that sits between your sales channels and your carriers: orders in, labels and tracking out.
Our takeShipStation covers the shipping job end to end: order import from unlimited stores, rate shopping across a large carrier list, labels, tracking emails and returns.
The pricing model is the thing to study. You pay by plan and by monthly shipment tier, so a growing store moves up the ladder twice, and useful features such as your own carrier accounts and phone support sit on Standard rather than Starter.
Why we rate itUnlimited store connections on every plan, a carrier list of 200+ parcel and 50+ LTL carriers, and a 30-day trial with no card make it easy to test on real orders.
The catchCost grows with shipments, Starter stops at 3 users and email or chat support, and postage is billed on top.
Plans registered before July 8, 2025 may pay fees to connect carriers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is ShipStation per month?

It depends on plan and shipment volume. Starter starts at $14.99 a month for 50 shipments and reaches $174.99 for 5,000. Standard starts at $29.99 and Premium at $349.99, both scaling to 100,000 shipments. Annual billing saves 20%, and postage is paid separately (checked 3 October 2026).

What exactly does ShipStation do?

It pulls orders from your online stores and marketplaces into one list, compares rates across carriers, prints labels, sends tracking emails and handles returns. Higher plans add order splitting, inventory and warehouse tools.

Is ShipStation cheaper than USPS?

ShipStation is not a carrier. It is software that buys labels from carriers such as USPS, UPS and FedEx, often at discounted rates, so you pay the subscription plus postage. Whether you save overall depends on your volume and the rates you get; we did not compare it against USPS retail prices.

What are the disadvantages of ShipStation?

Price rises with shipment volume, Starter allows only 3 users, using your own carrier accounts and phone support start on Standard, and Premium starts at $349.99 a month. Postage and insurance are billed on top of the plan (checked 3 October 2026).

Does ShipStation have a free trial?

Yes. The trial lasts 30 days, needs no credit card and gives a full refund promise within 90 days if you are not satisfied (checked 3 October 2026).
