The bottom line

A solid India-focused multichannel OMS now embedded in the Ginesys ecosystem — but pricing and brand have changed substantially from the DB listing.

Conversion Gems editorial verdict
From ₹5,000/mo + ₹3.50/order line
Features7/10
7 - broad marketplace integrations and omnichannel OMS features; strong on India-specific channels, but limited outside that geography.
Value5/10
5 - INR-based tiered pricing is reasonable for large Indian sellers, but usage fees plus implementation costs erode value for smaller operations; no free tier or trial.
Ease of use4/10
4 - implementation required on all plans, no self-serve onboarding; complexity suits enterprise buyers, not SMBs seeking quick setup.
Ecosystem7/10
7 - 60+ Indian marketplace and courier integrations; native Ginesys ERP/POS bridge; weaker on Western platforms and global ERPs.
Support6/10
6 - dedicated account manager on upper tiers; standard support on Standalone; managed services tier includes hands-on assistance.

What it really is

Ginesys OMS (formerly Browntape) — multichannel ecommerce order and inventory management system for Indian market sellers.

Our take

Browntape no longer exists as a standalone brand — browntape.com now redirects to Ginesys OMS, the company having been acquired by Ginesys and folded into the Ginesys One suite. The DB lists $25/mo and a free trial; both are wrong. Current pricing starts at ₹5,000/month (standalone) with a ₹3.50 per-order-line-item usage charge, and no free trial is offered. It remains a capable multichannel OMS with 60+ marketplace integrations, strong in India's D2C and fashion segments.

Why we rate it

Ginesys OMS covers the full India multichannel stack — marketplace syncing, courier management, WMS integration, and payment reconciliation — in one platform with deep local integrations that Western OMSes lack.

The catch

India-centric product with INR-only pricing, no free trial, mandatory annual commitment, and extra charges for implementation and third-party integrations. Heavier and more expensive than its original $25/mo legacy reputation suggests.

Best for
Indian D2C brands selling across 5+ marketplaces
Mid-market retailers with existing Ginesys ERP/POS looking to unify omnichannel OMS
Fashion and apparel sellers managing high SKU counts across Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra
Not good for
International sellers outside India needing USD/EUR pricing or Western marketplace integrations
Small or bootstrapped sellers looking for a budget entry-level tool
Teams needing self-serve onboarding without implementation support
Friction report
Time to value
Slow: implementation is billed separately and required; onboarding is not self-serve on any tier.
Scale breakpoint
Per-order-line pricing escalates fast at high order volumes; the ERP Integrated tier is necessary once multi-warehouse or ERP sync is needed, tripling the base cost.
Walled garden
High: workflows, reconciliation data, and marketplace configs are deeply tied to the Ginesys OMS interface with limited portable export options.
