What it really is

Octave Reliance (formerly ETQ Reliance) — enterprise cloud QMS for regulated industries.

Our take

ETQ Reliance has been rebranded Octave Reliance after Hexagon's 2022 acquisition; etq.com now redirects to octave.com. The DB mislabels it as freemium/free-trial Productivity software — it is a fully custom-priced enterprise eQMS with no free tier, no free trial, and no connection to productivity & collaboration. It targets quality, compliance, and EHS managers in manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace, and pharma who need document control, CAPA, audit management, and regulatory compliance (ISO, FDA) on a single cloud-native platform.

Why we rate it

One of the most mature cloud QMS platforms on the market — 600+ enterprise customers, 40+ ready-to-use compliance applications, and built-in support for ISO, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory frameworks. Codeless configurability is a genuine differentiator at this tier.

The catch

Zero pricing transparency — all quotes are custom. Implementation timelines of weeks to months and enterprise contract sizes make it inaccessible for smaller organisations or anyone needing a quick start.

Best for
Enterprise quality and compliance teams in regulated industries
Organisations managing multi-site audits, CAPA, and document control
Life sciences and manufacturing firms with FDA/ISO compliance obligations
Not good for
SMBs or startups with limited QMS budgets
Teams needing quick self-serve onboarding or a free trial
General productivity or collaboration use cases
Friction report
Time to value
Slow: implementation ranges from a few weeks for basic setups to several months for multi-site rollouts; dedicated onboarding is included but mandatory.
Scale breakpoint
Per-user and per-module pricing compounds significantly at enterprise scale; large rollouts require contract renegotiation.
Walled garden
Moderate: cloud-native SaaS with ERP/PLM/CRM/MES integrations, but quality workflows and audit trails are deeply embedded in the platform.
