Features8/10
8 - industry-leading material database, LiveCount takeoff, AI symbol detection, labor tracking; highly specialized for electrical trade.
Value5/10
5 - $2,000+ perpetual entry is significant; cloud/Anywhere pricing is opaque and sales-gated.
Ease of use4/10
4 - steep learning curve for a specialized tool; no self-serve trial; requires sales onboarding.
Ecosystem7/10
7 - strong within Trimble's MEP and construction suite; limited integrations outside that ecosystem.
Support6/10
6 - enterprise-grade support included with licenses but not self-serve; quality dependent on sales relationship.
What it really is

Trimble AccuBid — electrical & mechanical contractor estimating and bidding software.

Our take

AccuBid is now a Trimble product (Trimble AccuBid Classic and AccuBid Anywhere), purpose-built for electrical and industrial mechanical contractors. The DB mislabels it under 'Developer & Technical' — it belongs firmly in construction/MEP estimating. The listed $99/license price is also wrong; AccuBid Classic is a perpetual-license product starting around $2,000, with the cloud-based Anywhere edition on custom subscription pricing. There is no free trial.

Why we rate it

Decades-deep electrical estimating pedigree, backed by Trimble's construction ecosystem. The material database and assembly library alone justify the price for mid-size contractors. The newer Anywhere edition adds cloud collaboration and AI symbol detection that rivals newer entrants.

The catch

Steep entry price and a sales-gated pricing model for cloud tiers make evaluation difficult. The software carries a learning curve typical of trade-specific estimating tools, and it's overkill for small or residential contractors.

Best for
Mid-to-large electrical contractors bidding commercial or industrial projects
Estimating teams needing a deep, trade-specific material and assembly database
Contractors already in the Trimble MEP ecosystem
Not good for
Small residential contractors or solo electricians with simple job scopes
Contractors wanting a self-serve free trial before committing
Non-electrical trades needing general construction estimating
Friction report
Time to value
Slow: sales-led onboarding, no self-serve trial, and a trade-specific UI with a meaningful ramp-up period.
Scale breakpoint
Subscription cost and per-seat licensing for Anywhere can escalate sharply for large estimating teams.
Walled garden
Moderate: data is exportable but workflows are deeply integrated with Trimble's suite; switching costs are high once assemblies and databases are customized.
