What it really is

Finly — B2B spend-management and accounts-payable automation suite, now part of Sage.

Our take

Finly.io is an enterprise-grade Finance Management & Governance Suite covering expense approvals, e-procurement, vendor payments, and budget analytics in one policy-driven platform. DB listed it as Freemium with a Free Trial — both are incorrect; the product is paid-only starting around $1,000/mo and was absorbed into Sage following Lockstep's 2021 acquisition. It targets mid-to-large Finance and Procurement teams, not small businesses.

Why we rate it

Deep spend governance — policy enforcement, e-procurement, vendor payment automation, and real-time budget dashboards in a single platform. Strong ERP integrations (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online Advanced, SAP Business One, Sage Intacct) make it a credible AP and procurement hub for mid-market companies.

The catch

High entry cost (~$1,000/mo) and enterprise-only positioning lock out SMBs. The official domain (finly.io) now redirects to Sage, creating uncertainty about whether Finly continues as a standalone product or will be folded into a broader Sage offering.

Best for
Mid-to-large Finance teams needing policy-driven spend governance
Companies with complex AP, procurement, and vendor payment workflows
Businesses requiring deep ERP integration (NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks)
Not good for
Small businesses or startups needing a free or low-cost expense tool
Teams wanting self-serve sign-up and instant onboarding
Organizations outside the Sage ecosystem looking for a future-proof standalone product
Friction report
Time to value
Slow: enterprise onboarding requires policy configuration, ERP integration setup, and procurement workflow design before teams see value.
Scale breakpoint
Flat-rate pricing becomes relatively efficient at scale, but setup complexity and the opaque Sage integration roadmap are concerns for fast-growing orgs.
Walled garden
Moderate: ERP connectors exist (NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Sage Intacct), but spend workflows, approval chains, and payment data are tightly coupled to the platform.
